Pupils have a wide variety of sports on offer through extra-curricular opportunities. This is inclusive and open to all pupils through after school and lunchtime clubs so all pupils can attend.
Extra-curricular sporting activities offered to pupils at Longridge are: athletics, cricket, badminton, basketball, football, dance, netball and table tennis. The school enters district league competitions in some of these activities and others are offered as recreational activities. It is important to get involved and make the most of every opportunity! Joining in helps students to learn new skills, make friends, have fun and is good for their physical, social and mental well-being.
Longridge High School has an excellent record in pupil participation as well as sporting successes which has resulted in several district and county awards for sports school of the year. To ensure that we properly recognise our pupils’ sporting achievements, commitment and enthusiasm we reward them in a variety of ways throughout the year.
Player of the Match
At the end of all inter-school matches a ‘player of the match’ will be chosen by the teacher for displaying an excellent attitude and/or making excellent progress.
PE Praise Postcards
If a pupil has shown an excellent attitude to learning and/or made excellent progress for a sustained period of time, a praise postcard will be sent home to inform parents and recognise the achievements of our pupils.
Student of the Term
This award is for pupils who go above and beyond in PE. Two pupils in each year group will receive ‘pupil of the term’ each half term and they will receive a certificate and small prize. Their picture and achievement will also be shared via our social media channels.
