Longridge High School was buzzing with pride and celebration as over 200 guests gathered for the much anticipated Annual Sports Awards Evening, a night dedicated to honouring the outstanding achievements of the school’s sporting community.
Held in the school’s main hall, the event brought together pupils, families, staff, and local community members to reflect on a year of dedication, teamwork, and sporting success. With more than 60 awards presented across a wide range of sports, the evening showcased the incredible talent and commitment of our pupils.
From football and netball to athletics and cricket, each award recognised not only athletic performance but also sportsmanship, leadership, and perseverance. Special accolades were given for Sports Personality of the Year, Recognition of Out of School Sports, Outstanding Achievement and Team of the Year, which was awarded to the Year 10 netball team.
Mr Wright, Curriculum Leader for PE, praised the pupils’ efforts, saying, “Tonight is a celebration of more than
just trophies. It’s about the hard work, the late nights, the team spirit, and the resilience our pupils show every day. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them.” Mr Wright also thanked SLT and the Governing Body for their continued support and thanked the PE staff team: Miss Stemp, Mr Brown and Miss Eccleston for their dedication to PE and school sport. A special thank you to Miss Eccleston who has leaves us at the end of term to take up a new teaching position in Dubai. Miss Eccleston has been an outstanding teacher and an integral part of the PE department and wider school community. We all wish her every success in her new role.
As the night concluded, the sense of pride and community was palpable. The Annual Sports Awards’ Evening
not only celebrated past achievements but also set the stage for another exciting year of sport at Longridge
High.
