Friday 21st June 2024 saw Longridge High School pupils celebrate World Music Day, an event originally started in France, known as Fête de la Musique. On World Music Day, citizens and residents in France are encouraged to play live music outside in their neighbourhoods, local parks, and open spaces. Across both the Music and Languages department, staff organised events for pupils to take part in, including a lunchtime concert under the canopy and French karaoke!
The Longridge High School band (although small but mighty) produced an excellent sound and played Beethoven’s Ode to Joy, to name but a few. A band of Year 8 and Year 9 pupils, entertained their peers with songs from Nirvana and The White Stripes despite, being down a few members due to illness on the day.
Overall, Fête de la Musique was celebrated across the school with pupils enjoying live performances outside in the sunshine. A huge thank you to all the pupils involved!
Upcoming events include A Summer Showcase presented by the Longridge High School Performing Arts on Wednesday 10th July 2024 at 7pm.
