At Longridge High School, we believe that pupil leadership and pupil voice provide valuable opportunities for pupils to develop personally, developing character and empowering pupils to contribute to whole school priorities. Pupils are actively encouraged to share their views through our School Council, where representatives are elected through a democratic process, helping them to develop an understanding of responsibility, representation and diplomacy. The School Council meets at least once per half term to discuss key areas such as safeguarding, behaviour and teaching and learning, with agenda items set by the Senior Leadership Team. Importantly, pupil feedback is reviewed regularly at Senior Leadership Team meetings to inform school improvement. In addition, all School Council representatives take part in our half-termly School Parliament meetings, where they present their views directly to the Headteacher and senior leaders.

Alongside this, pupils are encouraged to take on a wide range of leadership roles, including the Senior Pupil Leadership Team, prefects, house captains, primary ambassadors and sports captains, all of which contribute to the life and success of the school. These opportunities allow pupils to act as positive role models, support younger students, lead initiatives and represent the school within the wider community. Through both pupil voice and pupil leadership, pupils develop key skills such as communication, teamwork, organisation and resilience, ensuring they play an active role in shaping the continued development of the Longridge High School community.
